A Mass Mixer is a heavy-duty, industrial blending machine designed for the uniform and efficient mixing of both dry powders/granules and wet materials to form a homogenous, dough-like mass.

 

It is particularly well-suited for processing materials that are difficult to blend, sticky, or require high shear for effective mixing, such as in the creation of wet masses for tablet granulation.

 

 

⚙️ Key Design and Working Principle

 

The Mass Mixer typically consists of a few main components:

 

• Mixing Trough (or Bowl): A U-shaped horizontal container made of stainless steel (often SS 304 or 316 for hygienic compliance). The materials are loaded here.

   

•  Stirrer/Agitator: A horizontal shaft fitted with specially designed paddle-type blades or ribbon-style blades.

   

•  Drive Mechanism: A motor and gearbox assembly that rotates the stirrer. The blades rotate at a relatively slow, single speed, which is ideal for incorporating liquid binders into powders without generating excessive dust.

   

•  Tilting Mechanism: A device, often a handwheel or electromechanical system, that allows the entire mixing trough to tilt for easy and complete unloading of the final mixed mass and for simple cleaning.
